KARP -
The Kagera AIDS Research Project

Aldin K. Mutembei (BA.Ed (Hons), MA. Ling, MA, PhD.) Lecturer in Swahili Literature, University of Dar es Salaam where he has been working since 1991. He is the Director of Swahili summer programmes since 1996 and Examiner responsible for Swahili B of the International Baccalaureate Organisation Africa/Europe/Middle East since 1995. He is currently the Secretary General of Tanzania Writers Association. He teaches Swahili literature and Social linguistics. He has published 1 book on oral literature and AIDS and 8 papers in national and international journals. His research focus has been on literary and communication aspects of HIV/AIDS and more currently on the contribution of Swahili literature into health issues including HIV/AIDS. Mutembei has been a member of KARP since 1993 as a co-investigator. He is currently doing research on factors hindering or promoting behavioural adjustments in the HIV/AIDS crisis.
