The Kagera AIDS Research Project |
| Gideon Kwesigabo, (MD, MEd, MSc, PhD) Lecturer in Epidemiology, Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health and Social Sciences, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences since 1994. Teaching Medical Students (both under and post graduates) in Epidemiology and Research Methodology. Research focus is on communicable diseases including HIV/AIDS, gender including violence against women, injuries, safe motherhood initiatives and consultancies in policy and health sector strategy development. Has published 17 papers in regional and international scientific journals, 13 other papers have been published as research reports or as chapters in books. Kwesigabo has been a member of the Kagera AIDS Research Project since 1990 and has been the acting principal investigator for the epidemiological studies during the last three years. He is currently involved also in a WHO coordinated multi country study on Violence against women, in a research collaboration for "fostering multidisciplinary collaboration between the Social Sciences and Medicine and in studies on for example injuries, plague and safe motherhood initiatives. He is also a consultant at the Ministry of Health for HIV/AIDS surveillance in Tanzania and also in the development of the Health Sector HIV/AIDS Strategy for Tanzania 2003-2006. |
