KARP -
The Kagera AIDS Research Project

Mwiru Sima, MPH, BA (sociology). He is the Field Coordinator to the project since 2003 based in Kagera responsible for the ongoing project activities in the field. He joined the project in 2001 as a research assistant in social anthropological component (SAC). Mr Mwiru has also worked with the University of Dar-Es-salaam in the main library as library assistant from 1996 to 1999 before joining the University of Dar-Es-salaam in 1999 for undergraduate studies in sociology. He also worked with Professor Lugalla as research assistant on problems of the Street children including those relating to their health in Dar-Es-salaam region in 2000. He is co-author in 2 papers, which have been published, in international journals.

Research and professional interests:
He is interested in health research at different levels and groups in society, research in reproductive health in youths, HIV/AIDS, poverty and health, health and globalization, health and cultures, relationship between economic, social policies and the health of the population, community participatory approaches with the aim of improving peoples' quality of life
