The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) has been awarded a grant by Fogarty International Center (FIC) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in collaboration with Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University (KCMUCo) and Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS), to support transformation of health professions education in Tanzania. The three institutions will collaborate with United States Partners University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Duke University. The five-year grant (20182023) will implement a project titled “To Reach the People: Transforming Health Professions Education in Tanzania (THET)”, being part of the Health Professional Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) by FIC that supports efforts to strengthen healthcare and research workforce in sub-Saharan Africa, especially in HIV/AIDS. In Tanzania, THET aims to use innovative educational strategies to transform health education geared to produce health professionals who are competent and ready to practice inter-professionally whenever they are in the country. A major goal is to mentor and support junior faculty to become successful in performing inter-professional research and in obtaining funding through creation of a mentored Community of Young Research Peers
THET is hereby advertising for 12 positions for Young Research Peers (4 each for MUHAS, KCMUCo and CUHAS). Eligible applicants are Junior Faculty (Tutorial Assistants, Assistant Lecturers, Lecturer) at the 3 partner Universities belonging - but not limited - to the Schools of Medicine and Nursing who are self-motivated and willing to work with an inter-professional group of junior and senior scientists from both within and outside their parent Universities.
