The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) has been awarded 100,000 Pound sterling by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Africa NCD Open Lab as a seed grant to explore healing and progression of diabetic foot ulcers in Tanzania.
This awarded grant will implement a project titled “Progressive Exploration of the Effect of Adiposity and Associated Microbial Factors on the Healing and Progression of Diabetic Foot Ulcers in Tanzania’’ under the leadership of Dr. Fredirick Mashili.
This grant is part of GSK initiative which aims at supporting African scientists to carry out research in non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Under this initiative, early to mid-career scientists from different African countries are supported to establish themselves in research areas that address Africa most pressing NCD challenges.
Through this grant, MUHAS will be part of the Africa NCD Open Lab Network. This international and regional research integration is an important step towards achieving the institutional research goals.
MUHAS Management and staff are proud of this achievement and would like to congratulate the efforts of Dr. Fredirick Mashili and his team for this accomplishment.
