Directorate of Planning and Development - Muhimbili Campus

The Directorate of Planning and Investment at the Muhimbili Campus (DPI-MUH) is one of the 12 Directorates of the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. The Directorate is responsible for the development and monitoring of the university planning activities, improving Institutional Investment portfolio, resource mobilization as well as securing the available and new university properties. The DPI-MUHis composed of the following Departments;
1.    Strategic Planning
2.    Resource Mobilization
3.    Investment
4.    Insurance Services.
The functions of the various departments of the directorate are as follows:-

1.    Department of Strategic Planning
Functions
  1.     Coordinating University planning process
  2.     Develop Institutional Corporate and Five Year Rolling strategic plan
  3.     Guiding Schools/Directorates to develop their strategic plan
  4.     Providing technical expertise on strategic planning to the Unit
  5.     Monitor Implementation of Strategic plan
  6.     Coordinate production of annual and triennium report
  7.     To prepare Directorate Annual Action Plan
2    Department of Resource Mobilization
Functions
  1.     Identify Activities for income generation  internally and externally
  2.     Coordinating units for institutional income generation activities
  3.     Write Proposal/business plan
  4.     Guide Units to develop unit specific income generation ideas
  5.     Ensure cost containment
  6.     Develop guidelines/policies and procedures for institutional income generation and cost     containment
  7.     Monitor and Evaluate implementation of income generation activities
  8.     Establish and implement rigorous system for revenue collection for the University facilities
  9.     Participate in the University Budgeting and Resource allocation
3    Department of Investment
Functions
  1.     Generate ideas for investment of the University properties
  2.     Develop feasibility studies/investment proposals
  3.     Work closely with department of Resource Mobilization
  4.     Develop and implement strategies for safeguarding University properties
4    Department of Insurance Services
Functions
  1.     Establish the University InsuranceBroker
  2.    Ensure that all University properties (Motor vehicles, Buildings, furniture, computer and     documents such as title deeds)  are ensured
  3.     Generate income for the University through provision of insurance services to other     clients/institutions
  4.     Develop and maintain MUHAS asset registry
  5.     Market the MUHAS Insurance Broker (MUIB)
